Kevin "BeLOWaBOVe" Saul Wins Event 11 of FTOPS XIII

After a few near victories in previous years, Kevin "BeLOWaBOVe" Saul has finally earned his coveted FTOPS title. Saul emerged victorious in Event #11 of the currently running FTOPS XIII tournament series. The tournament was a $216 buy in Pot Limit Hold'em/Omaha event that had 1,310 entrants. When it was all over, Saul was the last player standing earning him a nice payday of $57,000. Although the win was remarkably impressive, the first place prize was nowhere near Saul's largest tournament cash. Back in 2007, he won the World Poker Tour Bellagio Cup for a massive $1.3 million. Saul defeated well known poker pro Mike "The Mouth" Matusow heads up to with that title.

Over the last few years, Kevin Saul has made a name for himself as one of the rising stars in poker. He has honed his skills online becoming one of the top tournament players on the internet. With his 2007 WPT Bellagio Cup win, Saul proved that his poker talents translate well to the live arena. During last years FTOPS tournaments series, Saul finished fourth place in a $1,000 buy in event, then amazingly took second in a $300 rebuy event two days later. The two very impressive showings earned Saul a whopping $273,000 combined. With his recent victory in the Pot/Limit Hold'em/Omaha event, Saul can now add FTOPS Champion to his impressive poker resume.

When asked about his recent win, Saul stated that he accumulated most his chips while playing Pot Limit Omaha. He has plenty active in the Pot Limit Omaha hands seeing nearly 30% of the flops, compared to only 8% of his Pot Limit Hold'em hands. He commented that some of the players who made it deep in the tournament seemed to be inexperienced in Omaha, which gave Saul an edge he could exploit. One critical hand occurred during the final table for Saul, when his AJ bested the AK of an opponent to double him up. Saul had about 12 big blinds when the hand took place, and he spiked a J on the river to keep him alive in the tournament. It is safe to say that he made the most of that fortunate hand, by going on to take home the title.
